Pepsi

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

At the animal shelter since: June 2025 Estimated age: born around June 2013 Estimated shoulder height: about 50 – 59 cm Special feature: Grace Place Get to know Pepsi directly in the video! Pepsi wants to give you lots of love! This furry nose once had a home. However, Romanian dogs are quickly brought to the animal shelter or abandoned if they, for example, do not guard the courtyards well enough. Also, Pepsi's owners no longer wanted him, so he came into our care. Learn more about dogs in Romania in our animal welfare FAQ. Pepsi shows himself in the kennel as a very calm and balanced dog who actively seeks contact with people. As soon as someone speaks to him, he wags his tail and comes over, happy to receive attention. He presses close to his person, seeks physical contact, and enjoys cuddles very much. He also allows full-body petting calmly, placing his head in your hand and showing himself to be clingy without being intrusive. During visits, Pepsi remained unaffected by environmental noises or other stimuli. He always stays friendly and gentle when dealing with people. In contact with other dogs, however, he behaves uncertainly and rather rejecting. Encounters quickly lead to tensions, which is why he is currently kept as a single dog. Spondylosis has been diagnosed in Pepsi. For this reason, we are looking for a home with fewer stairs to prevent him pain. Our adoption team is best informed about his exact health condition. If you have further questions, please feel free to send us a message. Due to his health condition and advanced age, we are seeking a Grace Place for this furry nose. With a Grace Place, higher veterinary costs will be covered by agreement with the association, and the adoption fee will be waived. The dog should thus have a better chance at finding a home where he can spend the rest of his life in peace and security. Therefore, we wish for his future home to be a place for a single dog, ideally on one level with a garden, where he can enjoy the company of his family undisturbed. We are looking for people who are aware that shelter dogs come with a certain history. We cannot predict at the animal shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That’s why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: By adopting instead of buying, you not only give a second chance to an animal but actively choose against animal suffering – and for a life alongside a truly special companion. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, read through the adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before travel arrangements (with the exception of puppies up to 6 months old and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have further questions, please feel free to send a message to our adoption team.

Im Tierheim seit: Juni 2025 Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. Juni 2013 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 50 – 59 cm Besonderheit: Gnadenplatz Lerne hier Pepsi direkt im Video kennen! Pepsi möchte dir ganz viel Liebe schenken!

About Pepsi

What life with Pepsi looks like

Pepsi is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pepsi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pepsi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pepsi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pepsi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pepsi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pepsi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pepsi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
