Petra
Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Young · 2 years
Personality:Beautiful Petra came into our care living as a stray for over a year. She struggled in the cattery environment, choosing to spend her time hiding away in a carrier and only coming out to eat or use her litter tray when no one was around. She has spent the last few months in a wonderful foster home where it is clear that although she is more relaxed, she prefers not to be in such close proximity to people. Behaviour:When Petra knows there is no one in the foster home, or overnight, the cameras show she is an incredibly active girl. Happy to explore her foster room, using her scratching post and playing with her toys. She also spends a lot of time looking out the window, she can’t wait to have the opportunity to explore what the outside world has to offer, whilst still having a safe place to call her own. 3 months post adoption support will be provided by our onsite Cattery Behaviourist. Housing:As poor Petra has spent half of her life as a stray, it is unlikely she has had much positive interaction with people. Due to this and our observations of her in a foster home, Petra would prefer to have a safe, secure, sheltered outbuilding/shed/summer house. This can be in a spacious garden/farm land/stables or an alternative similar set up. Their adopters will need to use a hands off approach and either live onsite or visit the site at least twice a day to provide her with her essentials, such as fresh food and water, and to clean her litter tray. It may be that she will prefer to live permanently like this but she may gradually build trust with her owners and surroundings and choose to live a more conventional lifestyle in a home.
