Pflegehund Campina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

In Germany since: August 2026 In foster care in: 41749 Viersen Estimated age: born approx. May 2020 Estimated shoulder height: approx. 65 cm Estimated weight: approx. 25 kg Get to know Campina better in more pictures and videos here! Active female dog Campina is looking for experienced people in 41749 Viersen! No one cared for her injuries. In a Romanian kill shelter, Campina's life was worth nothing. She was bitten by other dogs and had to cope with her wounds on her own. But her fate was about to change: we got her out of there and made sure she received the urgently needed veterinary care. Today, thankfully, Campina is doing much better. She was able to travel to a loving foster home in Germany, where she is now waiting full of hope for her own forever home. Campina is an active dog full of joy for life, learns quickly, and most of all wants to do things together with her people. She is also friendly toward strangers. Her occasionally somewhat clumsy manner is particularly charming: Campina is a real "bull in a china shop" and loves to make herself comfortable in dog beds that are at least one size too small for her. She proudly carries her toys around, and during spontaneous zoomies with play invitations in the garden she regularly puts everyone in a good mood. She already brings a great foundation for everyday life together: being left alone for four to five hours works without any problems. Campina has a cropped left ear, and her tail is also shortened. Neither affects her in daily life. Many dogs in Romania have these parts cut off to make the animals look more dangerous. Based on her appearance, we suspect that Campina is a Dutch Shepherd mix. For Campina, we are looking for dog-experienced, active people who enjoy training together with her and channeling her energy in the right direction. A quiet residential location on the edge of town, in a village, or in a rural setting would especially suit her; a private garden would be a big plus for her beloved zoomies. Campina would like to live as a single dog, so that her people can focus entirely on her and her further development. Because of her prey drive, she also wishes for a household without cats. Young people from about 15 years of age are conceivable for Campina, provided they respect her needs and the adults take over training and management. Her future people should, alongside exercise and shared activities, consciously provide her with calm, because for Campina, learning to switch off is just as much a part of her journey as adventures and outings together. For this furry companion we wish for people who are aware that shelter dogs come with a certain history. We can never predict in the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That is why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts rather than buys not only gives an animal a second chance, but actively decides against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are considering adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

In Deutschland seit: August 2026 Auf Pflegestelle in: 41749 Viersen Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. Mai 2020 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 65 cm Geschätztes Gewicht: ca. 25 kg Lerne hier Campina in weiteren Bildern und Videos kennen! Aktive Hündin Campina sucht in 41749 Viersen erfahrene Menschen!

About Pflegehund Campina

What life with Pflegehund Campina looks like

Pflegehund Campina is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Campina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Campina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Campina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Campina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pflegehund Campina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Campina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Campina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
