Australian Shepherd · Female · Puppy

(with Video) UPDATE April 2026: Nora had severe infections with growths in both ears upon admission to the shelter. Both ears have successfully been operated on, and the hope that Nora will retain her hearing has been confirmed. Now, Nora can slowly but surely start looking for her own home, because the animal shelter is definitely not for this fine female dog. Nora needs a fellow animal; when Serafin, who shares the pen with Nora, is not by her side, she cries very persistently and with great endurance. Being alone takes more of a toll on her than we initially thought. Nora has a fine, sensitive character; she does not open her heart to humans immediately, and one must approach her gently and slowly, without pressing, to win her over with a bit of patience. But once Nora’s heart is won, the female dog gives all the love she has to give and shows clingy, cuddly behavior, accompanying you step by step. Nora is certainly not a follower; she needs people who can provide her with security and guide her, but do so with love and patience. Nora wants so badly to trust and fit in, to reduce her stress level and be trustingly in the hands of her people. Nora should become a girl on the land, preferably in a house with a small garden and a cool fellow animal who doesn’t mind that Nora seeks close contact. Nora and her sister Emma come from an overcrowded animal shelter in Spain.

About (ph)

What life with (ph) looks like

(ph) is a puppy/kitten australian shepherd dog waiting at TS Fellwechsel e.V. in Varel /nur Vereinssitz, kein Tierheim vor Ort.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting (ph), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about (ph)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TS Fellwechsel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw (ph) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt (ph) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TS Fellwechsel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is (ph) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if (ph) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TS Fellwechsel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know (ph) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
