Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Animal Now! Adoption Requirements Adoption Process Request this Dog Now! Phero didn't have an easy start in life. He was taken to the shelter by dog catchers and is now waiting for his fate to finally turn for the better. The approximately three-month-old Phero currently weighs around 7 kg and stands about 40 cm tall at the shoulder. When fully grown, he'll probably be one of the larger dogs. With his black coat, white markings on his chest, and tiny white paws, Phero is a real eye-catcher. Especially his attentive gaze reveals that he's a curious little explorer at heart. At first, Phero is still somewhat cautious around people and prefers to observe new situations from a safe distance. However, with a bit of patience, he quickly warms up and reveals his loving and gentle nature. He gets along well with other dogs and likes to orient himself toward them. We're looking for people who can give Phero the time he needs to settle in at his own pace and show him—with loving, positive guidance—how wonderful a sheltered dog life can be. Life indoors, house training, leash manners, and all the many everyday noises are still new to him and should be introduced step by step without any pressure. Attending a positively oriented dog school would help Phero and his new family learn together and grow into a well-coordinated team. Whoever gives Phero the chance to build trust will gain a loyal companion who will surely accompany his people through life for many years to come. Phero is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated upon departure; he has an EU pet passport and, after a positive preliminary check, can travel to his new home against a protection fee. Many thanks, Tina A.! You gave Phero his name and thus gave him the chance to be seen. As of: July 24, 2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Phero hatte keinen einfachen Start ins Leben. Vielen Dank, Tina A.!

About Phero

What life with Phero looks like

Phero is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
