adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Phoebe has found her home! Her story: Leana and her 9 puppies Avani, Gretchen, Ottilie, Phoebe, Marvie, Ada, Balko, Sawyer, and Marilou have a better story than most of the other dogs that come to us! We were contacted by a private person asking if we could help, as she had a female dog that had given birth to 9 puppies – of course, we agreed right away. The person has been taking care of the little dog family since then. Although the puppies do not live with the family in the house, they are already getting their first impressions of what life in a real family feels like and are associating only positive things with humans. They are all super loving, sweet, and open. The kittens have also already met them. Currently, the puppies are 4.5 months old, and the mother Leana is about 2-3 years old. The puppies will grow to be small to medium-sized. Leana is about 40-45 cm tall. Her new family should be aware that Phoebe has not yet experienced life in a loving family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is in full swing. She needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and may need to attend some positively working dog training classes and be forgiven for any mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being left alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and may even "forget" some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Phoebe will definitely become a great lifelong partner. Phoebe is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be fostered. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Kim! You named Phoebe. Date: 24.10.

Vielen Dank an Kim! Du hast Phoebe Ihren Namen geschenkt. About Phoebe

What life with Phoebe looks like

Phoebe is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phoebe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phoebe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phoebe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phoebe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phoebe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phoebe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phoebe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
