Adopt Piet

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Breed: mixed breed. Gender: neutered maleAge: born 01.01.2022Weight: approx. 6 kgIn the animal shelter since: 30.05.2026Specials:Piet is a neutered male dog, born on 01.01.2022, and a cheerful, open-minded little dog who quickly wins the hearts of his people with his friendly nature. The charming four-legged friend is very people-oriented and enjoys the company of his trusted people to the fullest. Snuggling is one of his favorite activities, and he is delighted with any attention he gets from his people. Piet would rather be right in the middle of the action instead of just being part of it. He especially loves going for walks and enjoys being out and about with his people. He walks well on a leash and takes great pleasure in exploring his surroundings. Therefore, we wish for him an active home where he can spend time with his dog and be integrated into their daily lives. While Piet gets along with other dogs, his happiness might be found more as a single dog. He enjoys not having to share the attention of his people and would be happy to be the sole four-legged member of a household. Whether Piet has already lived in a home, we cannot say with certainty. Therefore, he should be given time to get used to his new home and its routines. He also needs to learn about car rides step by step. For Piet, we are looking for loving people who want to give him security, mental stimulation, and many shared experiences. Attending dog training classes would certainly be a great way to learn together and strengthen the bond. For those looking for a friendly, cuddly, and lively companion who likes to spend time with their people, Piet is a wonderful lifelong friend.

Rasse: Mischling. Geschlecht: männlich/kastriertAlter: geb. 01.01.2022.

About Piet

What life with Piet looks like

Piet is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübbersdorf in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübbersdorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübbersdorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübbersdorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
