Piglet

Syrian Hamster Β· Male Β· Baby Β· 5 months

Background: Meet Piglet, a male Syrian hamster. He came to Raystede due to his previous owner's change in circumstances. Piglet is a new arrival and has already experienced a lot of changes in his short life, he appears to be quite a timid and nervous individual so would require a steady, experienced hamster home. Ideal home: Hamsters require a large enclosure of at least 100 x 50 x 50cm. The enclosure should consist of deep, safe bedding, a suitably sized wheel, sand bath and plenty of other enrichment as they prefer busy enclosures. To help Piglet gain confidence in his environment he will require lots of safe spaces and enrichment (such as sprays and scatter feeding) to get him exploring the enclosure. He would prefer a hands-off approach as he does not enjoy being handled. Please see our care guide for more information on suitable hamster enclosures. Children: Piglet is a very nervous hamster so would require a quiet home with no young children. Other animals: Will need to be kept separate from other pets in the home. Additional needs: Piglet is a young hamster who has not had the chance to settle or be socialised. He will need to go to a hamster-savvy owner who has no expectations of him becoming a handleable hamster. We hope that in time and in the right home, he will become a brave little soul. If you are interested in adopting Piglet, please complete an online application form.

About Piglet

What life with Piglet looks like

Piglet is a large young syrian hamster animal waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Piglet far better than any listing can convey β€” ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piglet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piglet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piglet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piglet if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Raystede Centre what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Piglet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask Raystede Centre directly what is included and what Piglet still needs.
What happens if Piglet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piglet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
