Pimpuś

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Pimpuś is a young dog born in October 2023 who requires a very experienced and responsible caregiver with practical experience in working with dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior. Pimpuś is a highly anxious dog, but his reactions are not limited to withdrawal or avoidance of contact. In situations that cause him to feel threatened, he may react with aggression, including attempts to bite a person. Therefore, his behavior must be taken seriously, and contact with him requires the observance of appropriate safety rules. Pimpuś is not a dog that can be approached freely and tried to be petted. Do not force him to physical contact or cross his boundaries. The person working with Pimpuś must be able to correctly read his warning signals, predict situations that may trigger an aggressive reaction, and manage them accordingly. An additional problem is strong territorial defense. Pimpuś defends his box and within it can present offensive behavior towards humans. This means that his aggression is not always purely defensive related to fear - in the event of a violation of his space, he can actively take action to defend it. Pimpuś does not tolerate other dogs. He should be led as a dog requiring individual approach and appropriate management of contacts with other animals. His attitude towards cats remains unknown, so we cannot guarantee that he will be able to safely function in a house with a cat. Another area requiring work is walking. Pimpuś cannot walk on a leash, so the future caregiver must be prepared for gradual and specialized work on this element of his functioning. At the same time, Pimpuś has his strengths. He really likes staying on the runway, where he can move freely and spend time outside the box. The possibility of using the runway is an important element of his daily life. Pimpuś is dewormed, vaccinated, flea-free, chipped, and neutered.

About Pimpuś

What life with Pimpuś looks like

Pimpuś is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pimpuś, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pimpuś?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pimpuś on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pimpuś if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pimpuś already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pimpuś isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pimpuś and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
