adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pinto has found a home! His story: Pinto's life began under dramatic circumstances: In the middle of summer, he and his two sisters, Malia and Katalea, were discovered alone on a dusty country road. Crouched closely together, they were exposed to the blaring sun without any protection. No one knows how long they had been there – but their small bodies were emaciated, their fur dirty, and their eyes dull with exhaustion. Perhaps they still held out hope that someone would finally stop and notice them. Fortunately, our team member Dorel was at the right place at the right time. He recognized how weak and sickly the little ones were and gently brought them to safety. At the vet, Parvovirus was diagnosed – the death sentence for puppies on the street. But with much care and countless sleepless nights, Pinto and his sisters fought their way back to life. Today, Pinto truly blossoms. He loves to run through the enclosure with his sisters, is curious, friendly, and seeks the company of people. His short brown-and-white fur, floppy ears, and Jack Russell-like appearance make him a real looker. Pinto is about 3 months old and will likely be small to medium in size. Now, all that's missing for his good fortune is a loving home where he can feel security and safety. Of course, at his young age, he hasn't had any experiences with life as a house dog, and he hasn't heard of house training or leash walking. But Pinto is a very lively and smart puppy who wants to please people. With lots of love, understanding, and positive reinforcement, he will surely quickly learn the Welpen-1×1. In a few months, the sweet pup will enter puberty, which will bring everything he has learned so far into question. Rules will be reevaluated, and boundaries will be tested. But with a loving and consistent training style, he will emerge from this phase as a well-mannered and confident young dog, faithfully accompanying his family in all activities. We wish Pinto loving and patient people who would like to offer him a family connection, a warm dog bed, beautiful walks, and plenty of contact with fellow animals. After an adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively trained dog training class, where Pinto can train with his new family and build positive experiences. Pinto is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and has her EU pet passport in tow. Thanks, Kathrin S.! You gave the little Pinto a name and the chance at a happy future. As of 05.09.

Stand: 05.09.2025

About Pinto

What life with Pinto looks like

Pinto is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pinto, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pinto?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pinto on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pinto if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pinto already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pinto isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pinto and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
