Pippi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Pippi has been trying to keep herself and her pups alive on the streets of Romania for years. Together with her young daughter, about a year old, they wandered around, always searching for food and a safe place to sleep. During a sterilization project, mother and daughter were caught by people from the neighborhood so they could receive help. The plan was to release them back onto the streets afterward, but we simply couldn't bring ourselves to do that. Since then, they have been staying with our rescuer in Romania. Shortly after, Pippi gave birth to one last litter of puppies. Fortunately, these will be the last unwanted pups she ever has to bring into the world, as she has since been spayed. She lived there with several other dogs and puppies and did exceptionally well. Pippi is social, gets along well with all the dogs, and moves easily among them. Pippi was allowed to leave for the Netherlands, and this cute girl is now staying with us in the shelter. Pippi is an incredibly loving and affectionate girl with a funny snout that immediately catches the eye. But what immediately catches the eye about her is how much she loves people. As soon as volunteers enter her kennel run, Pippi comes straight to you. She would rather just snuggle up against you or sit on your lap. She enjoys attention and cuddles intensely and would most love to just be right next to you all day. Despite everything she has experienced, she has maintained an enormous soft and friendly disposition. For Pippi, we hope for a loving home where she can finally experience what it's like to be truly part of a family. A place where she never has to wander around again but can simply be safe and loved. Pippi is a spayed female dog with an estimated birthdate of May 12, 2024, and she is approximately 38 centimeters high.

NL·Show original

About Pippi

What life with Pippi looks like

Pippi is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at DOC Oldenzaal in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pippi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pippi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. DOC Oldenzaal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pippi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pippi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — DOC Oldenzaal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pippi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pippi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with DOC Oldenzaal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pippi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
