Pleun

Unknown · Young · 2 years

Peanut the turtle-cat is hiding deep in her little nest. We found her wandering and estimate her birth date to be 18-5-2024. Peanut has been staying at Hokazo since May and doesn't show much yet. What we do see is that she doesn't feel comfortable here. She doesn't feel supported by other cats and still finds us very scary. Despite finding people very exciting, she doesn't act mean. When we bring her some food lovingly, she crawls a bit deeper into her hiding place. We want to give her more peace. That's why we are looking for a nice place for Peanut. Peanut needs especially routine, patience, and a stress-free environment. We are looking for someone who will let her come out of her hiding place at her own pace and respect her boundaries. And especially someone who realizes how nice she already is, despite the fact that she may never become a real cuddly cat. We suspect Peanut doesn't need another cat, but may be placed where an independent, quiet cat is already present. Because of her fear, Peanut cannot be in a house with a dog and/or (small) children. We think she is already struggling enough with getting used to people and living in a domestic environment. Do you have a well-fenced garden and/or cat run for cats? Then Peanut will certainly appreciate that. Do you want to offer Peanut the quiet, stable environment she desperately needs? Then please email us with the subject line "Peanut".

Diep verscholen in haar holletje zit schildpadpoes Pleun. About Pleun

What life with Pleun looks like

Pleun is a small young adult cat waiting at Hokazo in Uden.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pleun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pleun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hokazo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pleun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pleun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hokazo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pleun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pleun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hokazo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pleun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
