Pol

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Pol is a Ukrainian "refugee dog." He spent the past few months in quarantine at an animal shelter in Hungary, before traveling to Switzerland at the beginning of the year. Pol is an open and friendly companion. At first, he may react uncertainly in certain situations. Once he builds trust, however, he is people-oriented and interested. Pol gets along well with fellow animals. Pol needs dog-experienced people who can meet his needs and give him time and patience. He has not yet learned to walk on a leash, but with a bit of patience and time, he will surely learn. Attending dog training classes would be ideal. It would definitely be helpful to have a nice, confident only dog. His future home should be more rural. Pol is vaccinated, microchipped, and will be rehomed in cooperation with the Tierschutzbund Basel Regional. If you would like to meet Pol and offer him a suitable home, please request the non-binding application form from the dog pension Grisette at the number 0041 32 462 3219 (if the answering machine is on, please leave a message and your phone number) or via email at info(at)grisette.ch. Saschas Tagebuch with more photos, videos, and information can be found on the website of the dog pension Grisette: Pol We appreciate your understanding if the processing of your inquiry takes a little longer. We will do our best to give you a response as soon as possible. However, it may happen that many inquiries come in at once or that our resources are temporarily needed elsewhere.

DE·Show original

About Pol

What life with Pol looks like

Pol is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzbund Basel Regional.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzbund Basel Regional handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzbund Basel Regional will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzbund Basel Regional early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
