Polar Bear

Male · Adult · 8 years

Polar Bear is extremely affectionate and absolutely loves a cuddle - from the moment of meeting him, he'll wiggle his bum over for a little scratch! He walks really nicely on lead and gently strolls along beside you, although he may occasionally pull a little if there is something really exciting to attend to. He loves playing fetch with his balls and is a big fan of soft toys - especially when he gets to rip them up. He eats really well too. Polar Bear did come to us a little unwell and has come a long way since receiving treatment with us, now looking better than ever, with a full coat of fur and a beautiful black patch on his back. We will be sure to update our photos soon! We are sure whoever decides to adopt him will not regret giving this angel boy a home! Meet the most wonderful, squishy, lovable dog you will ever meet - Polar Bear! He's an 8 year old Bull Terrier Crossbreed and couldn't be any sweeter if he tried. He would love a home who will continue giving him all of the love and butt scratches he desires! Polar Bear is very friendly with other dogs and is very gentle in his play style, so he could live with another dog in the home pending a successful mix at the centre. He would prefer his new humans to be home most of the time and to gradually build up his time alone, as he's not used to spending much time alone. He's otherwise an absolute dreamboat in the home and his foster carers absolutely love him! He can live with with secondary school children and would enjoy a home where he play with his toys, have a gentle sniffy adventure and cuddle up with his family!

About Polar Bear

What life with Polar Bear looks like

Polar Bear is a large adult dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polar Bear, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polar Bear?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polar Bear on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polar Bear if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Polar Bear already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polar Bear isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polar Bear and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
