pompon

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

We’ve been asked to help find a home for him. Due to family circumstances, his current caregivers are unable to continue caring for him. We’re looking for a responsible and committed home for this nearly 6-year-old dog (born in November). The dog was neutered at 9 months of age. Here’s how his current caregiver describes him: 🏡 Behavior at home: At home, he’s very calm—most of the time, he sleeps. When left alone, he doesn’t destroy things or exhibit any destructive behavior. He quickly bonds with his caregiver and adapts well to the daily routine at home. Before walks, he can remain calm—he sits patiently and waits for his leash to be attached and for his caregiver to go out first. In interactions with children, he’s very gentle and well-balanced. 🐾 Behavior on walks: This dog is highly reactive—he reacts strongly to stimuli, especially other dogs (particularly larger ones). He requires careful handling, extensive behavioral work, and clear rules and daily routines. He reacts uncertainly toward some men—not everyone is tolerated by him, though there’s no consistent pattern here. He can ignore some smaller dogs. He has plenty of energy and is very strong—he needs both physical activity and emotional regulation in new and challenging situations. Traveling by car causes him stress on the way to his destination, but on the return trip, he usually falls asleep. During times when his caregivers aren’t around, he stayed at a dog hotel—with no negative consequences. 🧠 Temperament and abilities: He’s a dog who’s open to learning—and with the right approach, he can make significant progress. He forms strong bonds with people quickly. He needs a handler who’s able to consciously guide him through more difficult moments. 🥩 Diet: He’s fed exclusively dry food. ❤️ Health: His health is very good; he’s never been ill. Weight: Approximately 18 kg. Strong, physically fit, and in excellent condition. 👥 Relationship with people and animals: He gets along well with children. He may react with suspicion toward some men. With other dogs, it varies—larger dogs often provoke a strong reaction, while smaller ones are sometimes ignored. 🟡 This dog is suitable only for a home that’s willing to commit to working on his behavior. Collaboration with an experienced trainer or behaviorist is highly recommended. 📞 For more information about free adoption, please contact 509 104 718.

Silny, sprawny fizycznie, w dobrej kondycji. 👥 Stosunek do ludzi i zwierząt: Dobre relacje z dziećmi.

About pompon

What life with pompon looks like

pompon is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting pompon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about pompon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw pompon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt pompon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is pompon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if pompon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know pompon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
