Ponyo is a Labrador x Labradoodle cross. Ponyo is an uncertain, young male who has had a difficult start. We hope to find a warm, patient home for this sweet dog. He lived with his brother at his previous home, which has made Ponyo social and very fond of other dogs. Ideally, there would be a companion dog in his next home to play with, but this is not a requirement. With people, he did not receive the same socialization, which has made Ponyo very uncertain around strangers. He is afraid of people he does not know, startles easily, and will go into flight mode. Once he gets to know and trust you, he becomes a bit too social. Once he has attached himself, he has a tendency to be a "velcro dog" and follows you everywhere. In his foster home, his socialization is being expanded: children, chickens, new people, walks... He is slowly opening up and gaining more confidence. Ponyo can be alone, but he needs a crate. He is not mature enough to handle a lot of freedom. In his crate, he feels safe and calm, which also helps him when visitors come. This way, he can observe and get used to things calmly. When does Ponyo feel confident? With dogs and people he knows well, his tail goes up. He plays, runs, and enjoys social contact, especially with his fellow dogs. His tail also goes up on walks: sniffing, running, playing. Once on an adventure, he feels good. Occasionally, he may make a turn around passers-by, but he does not run away from them. Sounds and movements are not a problem. When does Ponyo feel uncertain? Around and with people he does not know, he will be uncertain and even anxious. He initially avoids them and needs time to warm up. Going through narrow corridors or doors is exciting for him, so he waits and then quickly goes through it. Also, when something unexpected comes towards him, he will be startled and run away. These things can be solved, but of course, they are a point of attention in the beginning. In other words, Ponyo is waiting for a loving home where there is room for him to open up and grow further into a happy adult dog.

Ponyo is een Labrador x Labradoodle kruising. Ponyo is een onzekere, jonge reu dat een moeilijke start heeft gekend. We hopen voor dit lieve hondje een warme, geduldige thuis te vinden. Bij zijn vorige baasje leefde hij samen met zijn broertje, wat ervoor gezorgd heeft dat Ponyo sociaal is en heel graag bij andere honden vertoeft. Idealieter is er in zijn volgende thuis ook een soortgenootje om mee te spelen, maar dit is geen verplichting. Met mensen kreeg hij niet dezelfde socialisatie, wat gemaakt heeft dat Ponyo heel onzeker is naar vreemden. Hij is bang van mensen die hij niet kent, schrikt snel en zal dan ook in vluchtmodus gaan. Eens hij je goed kent en vertrouwt, wordt hij zelfs een beetje té sociaal. Eens hij zich gehecht heeft, heeft hij de neiging om een "velcrohond" te zijn en dan volgt hij je overal. In zijn gastgezin wordt zijn socialisatie verder uitgebreid: kinderen, kippen, nieuwe mensen, wandelen,... Hij bloeit rustig open en krijgt steeds meer zelfvertrouwen. Verder kan Ponyo goed alleen zijn, maar hij heeft dan wel de bench nodig. Hij is nog niet volwassen genoeg om met veel vrijheid om te gaan. In zijn bench voelt hij zich veilig en rustig, wat hem ook helpt wanneer er bezoek langskomt. Zo kan hij rustig observeren en wennen. Wanneer voelt Ponyo zich zelfzeker? Bij honden en mensen die hij goed kent, gaat zijn staartje omhoog. Hij speelt, rent en geniet van het sociale contact, vooral met zijn soortgenootjes. Ook op wandeling gaat zijn staartje hoger staan: snuffelen, rennen, spelen. Eens op avontuur voelt hij zich goed. Af en toe kan hij een bochtje maken rond voorbijgangers, maar hij vlucht er ook niet van weg. Geluiden en bewegingen zijn geen probleem. Wanneer voelt Ponyo zich onzeker? Rond en bij mensen die hij niet kent, zal hij onzeker en zelf angstig zijn. Hij gaat ze in eerste instantie uit de weg en heeft tijd nodig om op te warmen. Door smalle gangen of deuren lopen vindt hij spannend, dan wacht hij af en schiet er vervolgens snel door. Ook wanneer er iets onverwacht tegen hem aankomt, zal hij schrikken en weglopen. Deze zaken zijn oplosbaar, maar natuurlijk wel een aandachtspuntje in het begin. Ponyo wacht met andere woorden op een liefdevolle thuis waar ruimte is voor hem om open te bloeien en verder op te groeien tot een vrolijke volwassen hond.
