Poppy & Lola

Chihuahua · Female · Senior · 11 years

Poppy and Lola would be happy in a reasonably busy home, where they can get out a couple of times a day for short sniffy walks and adventures. Both can pull on lead and don't have great recall, so this is something to be careful with when out and about. They're always happy to meet new people and will calmly greet other dogs on their walks, preferring to have a polite sniff before going back to doing their own thing. This wonderful duo will make the perfect companions to their future family. Lola does have some medical, which we would be happy to discuss in further detail with any potential adopters. This gorgeous pair, Poppy and Lola are the sweet and stylish duo you never knew you needed in your life! These sisters are both 11 years old and love to get out and about to explore all the sniffs in the big wide world. Poppy and Lola love their humans and would prefer a family who can spend plenty of quality time with them throughout the day. Being gentle and friendly they will happily live with another dog, pending a successful meet at our centre, as well as older primary school children.

About Poppy & Lola

What life with Poppy & Lola looks like

Poppy & Lola is a large senior chihuahua dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy & Lola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy & Lola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy & Lola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy & Lola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Poppy & Lola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy & Lola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy & Lola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
