Poppy Doodle

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Female · Senior · 9 years

Poppy is looking for a calm home with loving and active adopters who can take her on gentle sniffy strolls, who will take the time to help her settle in and provide her all the love she deserves. She is a friendly bean who could live with older primary school children who will play with her nicely and will give her space to rest when needed. Poppy could live with a calm and confident dog who will happily co-exist with her and engage in occasional play, this will be pending successful meets at the centre, although living with another dog is not a necessity, she would be happy with polite and calm walking buddies who will give her space to explore at her leisure. Poppy is a clever girl, once she is settled in her new home she could be encouraged to engage in training in short, sweet sessions as long as a tasty treat is on offer. Poppy finds being left quite worrying so is looking to have someone home the majority of the time, especially to begin with, any leaving time would need to be built up slowly once she has had time to settle into her new home. Poppy takes daily medication and will need to meet her adopters a few times prior to going home and will be going home on a foster to adopt basis so please bear this in mind when applying. Sweet little shadow Poppy is a 9 and a half year old Cavapoo who loves to follow you around the house, checking in to see what you are up to. She likes to play and will quite often be seen wandering the house with her teddy, carrying it like a security blanket. She is a super affectionate girl and loves a fuss, she especially likes a neck and back scratch and will reward you with lots of kisses on your face, arms, wherever she can reach really. This super cute floof is ready to find her new home.

About Poppy Doodle

What life with Poppy Doodle looks like

Poppy Doodle is a senior cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Dogs Trust Canterbury in Chestfield.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy Doodle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy Doodle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Canterbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy Doodle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy Doodle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Canterbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poppy Doodle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy Doodle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Canterbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy Doodle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
