POPPY

French Bulldog · Female · Adult · 7 years

Poppy, a lovely French Bulldog, is looking for her forever home. Poppy is a charming French Bulldog who only wants one thing: to find a gentle and reassuring family with whom she can finally thrive. Behind her adorable little appearance is a loving, sociable and endearing dog who greatly appreciates human company. Very kind to the people she meets, Poppy can, however, be a bit fearful, especially in the presence of men. With patience, gentleness and some treats, she gradually gains confidence and reveals all her tenderness. Poppy's strengths: - Very sociable with humans. - Compatible with respectful children. - Can live in an apartment, no need for a garden. - Travels willingly by car for short trips. - Gets along well with other dogs, especially males. Some points to consider: - She is sensitive and can be fearful, especially with men. - The presence of very young children is not recommended, as their sometimes rough gestures could worry her. - Cats are not a good idea. - She is not yet fully housebroken and may occasionally do her needs indoors. However, with regular outings, patience and a stable environment, great progress is entirely possible. - The relationships with females are sometimes more delicate than with males. The ideal home for Poppy Poppy would be happy in a calm and caring family, ready to give her time to settle in. She would be just as well suited to adoptive parents living in an apartment as in a house. Respectful children can be part of her future home, but it is better to avoid very young children. This pretty little dog deserves a second chance and a home where she will feel safe. For more information, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 523 44 16.

About POPPY

What life with POPPY looks like

POPPY is a adult french bulldog dog waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting POPPY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about POPPY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw POPPY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt POPPY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is POPPY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if POPPY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know POPPY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
