Adopt Poppy P

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Profile Age: born in July 2023. Gender: female. Spayed: yes. Character: friendly, quiet and somewhat reserved, but very curious and easy to bribe, compatible with other animals. Size: about 50 cm. In shelter since: September 2023. Relatives: brother Anton. A loving hello from faraway Romania! My brother and I were found as small puppies right near the shelter - alone and without our mom, while we hoped someone would find us and save us. So we finally ended up in this shelter. We have grown up now - and therefore it's time for us to finally set off to a forever home. When visitors come from Germany, I show my calm and composed side. At the same time, I am also very curious about the unfamiliar people. They seem friendly, and so I soon dare to take treats from their hand - and even some pats. I follow them step by step and show that there is not only calmness, but also a lot of curiosity and courage in my gentle soul. Even though I don't know what the future holds for me, I keep dreaming about what my life with a family could look like: more exciting, fun, adventurous, cuddly, warmer - and simply more joyful than life here in the dull shelter. I know life is not a wish concert - and I am aware that I still have a lot to learn. But still I hope for a little miracle. Maybe you also have a heart's desire that you would like to fulfill with me? Then let's count 1 + 1 together... If you are interested in Poppy, please fill out our application form () or send us an email at or a message via Facebook. Poppy is ready for export and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs travel spayed (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and have an EU passport. Furthermore, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before departure: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and Leishmaniasis. Yvonne D. has taken on the sponsorship for Poppy and thus ensures a filled bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

Steckbrief Alter: ca. im Juli 2023 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich.

About Poppy P

What life with Poppy P looks like

Poppy P is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poppy P, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poppy P?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poppy P on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poppy P if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poppy P already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poppy P isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poppy P and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
