Potts

Mixed Breed Cat · Male · Adult · 10 years

Personality:Potts was initially very scared when he came into us. He has now settled but still finds sudden movements quite frightening. He is an affectionate boy and prefers being socialised whilst its quiet. Potts will do well in a calm household so he feels safe to come out and explore. Behaviour:Potts greets socialisers when he feels ready. Often poking his head out the carrier, having a chat then rubbing his head on the edges of the hide. As he is still cautious of noises, socialisers remain quiet and move slowly around him. They let him initiate the fuss, but once he trusts them, he leans into their hand enjoying some cheek tickles. He is becoming more confident daily and with his most trusted people, he will lay next to them, paddy pawing and purring. Housing:Potts does get easily spooked when out exploring the cattery floor and will run back to his unit where he feels safe, so for this reason he would benefit from his own unused room to initially settle in before exploring the rest of the property, and eventually a garden. He cannot be homed in so14 area of Southampton. Children/pets:Due to his nervousness, Potts would need an adult only home with no other pets. Vet history:Potts is neutered, microchipped, flea, wormed and fully vaccinated. Potts has a small nick in the left eye lid. He is not on any treatment for this and it is not causing him any pain or discomfort currently. It is likely due to previous trauma. This should be monitored and adopters should seek vets advise if anything changes. Potts has no other known medical conditions. 4 weeks free pet insurance included with adoption. Adoption fee:The adoption fee is £100. If you would like to make an additional donation over and above the adoption fee, this would be hugely appreciated. About Potts

What life with Potts looks like

Potts is a small adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Potts, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Potts?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Potts on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Potts if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Potts already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Potts isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Solent Branch CIO - The Stubbington Ark early rather than rehoming privately; they know Potts and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
