Pumpkin

Male · Senior · 12 years

Pumpkin is a very sweet dog who had a lot of bad luck with people who couldn't take care of him. When he developed a tumor near his anus, instead of taking him to the vet, they started kicking him out of the house because Pumpkin had trouble pooping. It's hard to imagine how much pain and stress he must have endured. And in the end, he also lost his home, which was his world. At the shelter, Pumpkin had surgery to remove the tumor and now he can leave that difficult time behind. He needs something he was missing the most: good people, a sense of security, and his own home. He's a really wonderful dog. He's very smart, gentle, and friendly. He likes human contact and needs closeness. Unfortunately, his stay at the shelter doesn't do him any good. Pumpkin doesn't like being alone, and in the evenings, his crying and whining breaks our hearts. It's clear he misses people and a quiet, home life. There should be a better time ahead for him. Without pain, without loneliness, without waiting. Pumpkin is waiting for someone to show him that home can mean safety, care, and love. He really deserves a new chapter.

PL·Show original

Pumpkin to przekochany psiak, który miał ogromnego pecha, trafiając na ludzi, którzy nie potrafili się nim zaopiekować. Kiedy pojawił się problem z guzem w okolicy odbytu, zamiast zabrać go do weterynarza, zaczęli wyrzucać go z domu, bo Pumpkin miał trudności z wypróżnianiem się. Trudno sobie wyobrazić, ile bólu i stresu musiał wtedy znosić. A na koniec stracił także dom, który mimo wszystko był przecież jego światem. W schronisku Pumpkin przeszedł operację usunięcia guza i dziś może już zostawić tamten trudny czas za sobą. Potrzebuje teraz czegoś, czego wcześniej zabrakło mu najbardziej: dobrych ludzi, poczucia bezpieczeństwa i własnego domu. To naprawdę cudowny pies. On naprawdę zasługuje na taki nowy rozdział.

About Pumpkin

What life with Pumpkin looks like

Pumpkin is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumpkin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumpkin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumpkin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumpkin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumpkin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumpkin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumpkin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
