Adopt Twee beagles

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Quasar and Crunch, two young beagles who still have the world to discover. Two special beagles currently reside in our shelter: Quasar and Crunch. These young puppies (born June 2024) belong to the organization Stichting Hulp en rehoming Huisdieren (SHHH). Together with SHHH, we have a nice collaboration: we provide shelter and guidance, while rehoming is handled by SHHH. Quasar and Crunch have grown up together and have had much support from each other in their first period. They seek each other out, play together, and give each other confidence in new situations. At the same time, we also see that they are developing independently. Therefore, we are open to both a shared home and two suitable separate placements as long as there is enough rest, guidance, and understanding. Quasar and Crunch are learning to live as a house dog. For many dogs, these are natural things: getting used to strange people, wearing a harness, walking on a leash, discovering new scents, walking outside, processing stimuli. For Quasar and Crunch, this is all new territory. With patience, training and positive guidance, they are making progress step by step. Quasar (the beagle with the small white spot) Quasar is the more bold of the two. He is often the one who goes out to explore first and dares to come closer cautiously. With his regular caregivers, he is completely at ease and visibly enjoys the attention. Strangers remain exciting, but with patience - and a few tasty treats - he can be convinced to slowly make contact. Quasar: loves other dogs, plays well with familiar ones, like a real beagle, loves food, dares to sniff around outside first. Outside his familiar environment, it remains exciting, but we also see growth there. Crunch (the beagle without a spot) Crunch is the cuddler of the pair. With his regular caregivers, he comes for a pat and seeks contact. New people are still exciting, but he also allows himself to be approached with patience, time, and treats. Outside, the world is still overwhelming for Crunch. Nevertheless, he is making small, visible steps forward. Crunch: loves other dogs, quickly comes out to play, plays at his own pace, just like Quasar, a real lover of anything edible. Dutch Cell Dogs Both beagles have participated in the Dutch Cell Dogs program. This program helps dogs gain more confidence and develop new skills. For Quasar and Crunch, this meant extra practice in contact, structure and teamwork. We also see beautiful progress here. Their new beginning Quasar and Crunch mainly need: a quiet living environment, patience and understanding, predictability, guidance in further exploration of the world. They are still at the beginning of their real dog life. And that beginning deserves carefulness. Would you like to help Quasar and Crunch while they wait for a new home? With your contribution, we can give them the care, attention, and guidance they need. Would you like to help Quasar and Crunch while they wait for a new home? About Twee beagles

What life with Twee beagles looks like

Twee beagles is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dierenzorg Zaanstreek in AR Zaandam.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Twee beagles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Twee beagles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenzorg Zaanstreek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Twee beagles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Twee beagles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenzorg Zaanstreek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Twee beagles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Twee beagles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenzorg Zaanstreek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Twee beagles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
