Adopt Raisa

Female · Senior · 11 years

Raisa is a 10-year-old, beautiful British Shorthair cat. She has an amazing coat, as if someone diluted dark gray with a faded orange paint. This is a senior cat with the soul of a true lady. Calm and very quiet. She likes gentle petting, but in small doses, exactly as befits an older cat who knows what she wants. Raisa is a real chatterbox. She probably tells stories from her life, it's a pity we don't know the feline language well, because they are surely very interesting. Her quiet mews and meows are a way to communicate with a human she trusts. This is a perfect cat for someone looking for a calm companion, ready for closeness without imposing - with great charm and wisdom of a senior. Currently, Raisa has a stabilized pancreas, control by a cardiologist allowed to stop heart medication, she had a dental check-up, is fed a single-protein (beef) diet to stabilize IBD. She takes liver-supporting medication. The cat's health condition may change. Before adoption, please contact the Animal Adoption Office to determine the current health status. We invite you to fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire and come to the animal shelter with the completed questionnaire: Before adoption, make sure your home / apartment is safe and properly prepared to welcome a new family member. Attention:

Raisa to 10-letnia, piękna kotka w typie brytyjczyka. Jest zjawiskowo umaszcona, jakby dymną szarość ktoś przypruszył zgaszonym pomarańczowym maźnięciem. To kocia seniorka z duszą prawdziwej damy.

About Raisa

What life with Raisa looks like

Raisa is a small senior cat waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

Note from the shelter: Stabilized pancreatitis, heart condition (medication discontinued after cardiology check), dental care completed, monoproteín diet (horse meat) for IBD stabilization, liver support medication

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Raisa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Raisa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Raisa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Raisa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Raisa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Raisa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Raisa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
