Adopt Ramsey

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 2 years

Ramsey – a loving soul, searching for finally peace and security but also a little adventure ❤️ Originally, she came to us as a found animal. Ramsey is a young, uncomplicated cat to handle who can easily fit into a quiet household. Character-wise, she is open, friendly, and greatly appreciates the closeness of her people as well as her cuddles. Even her playful side shows us during her walks in the cat run, where she leads us by the nose and invites us to play little "catch games," being sly but simply charming. Typical for Ramsey 🤭 We place Ramsey exclusively as a single princess, as she likes to have her people all to herself. Older, sensible children are no problem. She already knows how to walk freely and would like to enjoy this again in her new home. Why is such a great cat still with us? Since her arrival, a itching sensation at the hind legs has developed over time. She has been examined multiple times by veterinarians and dermatologists, and various treatment approaches have been tried. Unfortunately, no clear cause could be determined so far. Currently, we suspect that the issue may be at least partially psychologically influenced. Additionally, it cannot be fully excluded that it may be partially self-mutilating behavior. For the start in the new home, special food should be worked with. As we are currently rotating in the animal shelter, the situation should be reassessed after the move and, if necessary, new diagnostic steps should be initiated. Since we believe that a quieter and more stable environment can help her more than the shelter life, we are looking for a foster home with the option of permanent adoption. Anyone who wants to give Ramsey the chance to become a faithful companion for the future is very welcome to contact us via email ().

About Ramsey

What life with Ramsey looks like

Ramsey is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Neuwied in Neuwied.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ramsey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ramsey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Neuwied handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ramsey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ramsey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Neuwied will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ramsey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ramsey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Neuwied early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ramsey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
