Rana

Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Meet Mariette and Rana, two beautiful 5-year-old British Shorthair ladies who are looking for a loving forever home together. Both cats have an official pedigree and have a gentle, affectionate nature. They share not only their lives but also a strong bond. That's why we're looking for a family that wants to give them both a warm home. Rana is a real cuddle cat. She enjoys attention, likes being petted, and loves being picked up. She also feels at home in a respectful children's family. Mariette is just as sweet but prefers things at her own pace. She enjoys soft pets and the company of her people, but doesn't like chaos and would rather not be picked up. We're looking for a quiet home or a family with some older, calm kids who respect her boundaries. Both cats are calm, friendly, and will undoubtedly bring lots of warmth and love into your home. We hope to find a home where Mariette and Rana can grow old together, surrounded by love, peace, and all the attention they deserve. Do you think you could give these two beautiful British Shorthairs a warm home? Send us a motivation and tell us about yourself, your family, and the environment in which Mariette and Rana would end up. Maybe you're the perfect match!

About Rana

What life with Rana looks like

Rana is a adult cat waiting at Dierenasiel Ganzeweide in Veurne.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rana, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rana?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenasiel Ganzeweide handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rana on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rana if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenasiel Ganzeweide will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rana already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rana isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenasiel Ganzeweide early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rana and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
