Rasmia

Mixed Breed · Unknown

This very special Galgo girl with the beautiful Aragonese name Rasmia, which means "Strength, Courage, Will to Act," is not looking for just any lovely home with kind people. No, her new trusted people should take the meaning of her name very seriously and, above all, be very eager to play ball, because that’s what Rasmia loves! She runs after the ball, fetches it, and challenges to play. There’s hardly any sign of her rear-end operation, and she moves with great energy – as if nothing had ever happened. Rasmia is not only energetic and full of life ("pura vida"), but – somewhat atypical for Galgos, who can sometimes be reserved and shy – she is without reservation, very affectionate, sweet, and clingy towards people: a Galgo who will make a wonderful lifelong partner. Rasmia not only gets along well with two-legged beings but also plays and runs with her fellow animals. Rasmia makes it easy for everyone to like her. When you call her, she comes right away, and in her kennel, she is very loving and keeps it clean and tidy – simply exemplary. Rasmia was a vagabond who was picked up on a road because it seemed she had been hit by a car. She was not microchipped, came to the animal shelter, where she was immediately introduced to the vet. He discovered a fracture and a dislocated hip through X-rays and had her operated on immediately. The healing and recovery have taken place, and now she can travel to her new home, where she can show her best side – as she already did at the animal shelter. Rasmia probably only has this one side. She looks forward to an active, loving family, a single person with time, or a couple with or without additional four-legged roommates (dogs). Due to her love for play (e.g., playing ball!) and her size, the new home should be in a rural area and very much have an enclosed garden. If there’s also a cozy, soft dog bed and/or a sofa nook for snuggling, Rasmia will be the happiest dog. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Rasmia

What life with Rasmia looks like

Rasmia is a extra-large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rasmia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rasmia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rasmia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rasmia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rasmia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rasmia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rasmia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
