Raul

Rottweiler · Male · Adult · 5 years

Breed: Rottweiler-mixed-breed male dog Age: born ca. 05/2021 Hallihallo, Raul is calling you! I am an adult Rottweiler mixed-breed male dog with a muscular build, definitely not just for show. I carry the security-appropriate short, snug-fitting black and brown fur in the Security Broadhead Look with a huge black nose. So, if you're looking for an imposing buddy by your side, you should have found me now. I am a very people-friendly buddy who loves attention and cuddles. Physically, I can be quite impulsive, and I might spring up and surprise the caretakers with my joy, who then have to prove their stability. I definitely have a lot to learn and am looking for a family that already brings a good portion of dog experience! I can already walk nicely on a leash, get along well with the female dogs, but not with other male dogs. I was rescued together with my brother from bad holding conditions. We are happy to be out of there, but animal shelter conditions obviously don't make for a happy dog life! What I wish for: I would be thrilled to escape the hectic shelter life quickly and fall into the arms of a new family that loves me… just as I am… for a lifetime (!). I long for cuddles, attention, and variety, want to please my person, and with them by my side, want to step back into the sunny side of life. I would be thrilled about an active leisure program and of course, I also long to learn more. A dog bed of my own, a few pieces of doggy toys, nest warmth, and security… and that's it. Before I travel to my new home, I will still be neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. If you would like to adopt me, please contact my handlers.

Rasse: Rottweiler-Mischlingsrüde Alter: geb. ca. 05/2021 Hallihallo, Raul is calling you!

About Raul

What life with Raul looks like

Raul is a extra-large adult rottweiler dog waiting at Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. in Hamburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Raul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Raul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Raul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Raul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Raul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Raul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Traurige Hundeherzen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Raul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
