Ravi

Mixed Breed · Male

PS S, born: 05/23, male dog, still unneutered. On the Finca since 12/25. Ravi – a fighter on the lookout for his happiness. By the end of the year 2025, we were able to rescue several Podencos from Pererra as part of a larger rescue action following the end of the hunting season. Thanks to many kind donors, a total of eight Podencos – mostly severely underweight and weakened – were able to leave Pererra. They were taken in by Sarah and Sven on their animal protection finca, where they were cared for and lovingly looked after. Ravi was among the first to be rescued and was in a critical condition. He was extremely underweight and very weakened. His body, marked with open wounds, was nothing but skin and bones. Upon arriving at the Finca, he was given a quiet place to rest. He was fighting with digestive issues and a cold virus. But Ravi fought on. With homemade food, special dog food, vitamins, and a lot of love and attention, he slowly regained his strength and his condition stabilized. Weeks have passed since then, and Ravi is now active and getting more muscular. He was also able to move into a new enclosure, together with a friendly female dog. We thought we were doing him a favor – but his interest in her remains surprisingly limited. Much better seems to suit him when he has his three highlights all to himself: his people, his cuddle blanket, and his toy. His favorite food and treats. We have the impression that after all the hardships Ravi has endured in his previous life, he would now be the happiest and most content dog if he had these three "favorite things" all to himself and was the single prince in his family, no longer having to share anything. Who fulfills his wish and gives him a compassionate, active, and Podenco-experienced home in the countryside? His new family should accompany him through all the new situations for him. Walks on a lead, excursions to a secure run, and his own garden would bring great joy to the active male dog. Who signs up for Ravi?

About Ravi

What life with Ravi looks like

Ravi is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Fuerteventura in Dransfeld.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ravi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ravi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Fuerteventura handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ravi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ravi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Fuerteventura will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ravi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ravi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Fuerteventura early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ravi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
