Raye

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Raye, a female puppy, has been at the shelter since June 2026. She is estimated to have been born in March 2026 and will be ready for adoption on July 29th. Learn more about Raye (link to video on this page - set anchor) Raye and her siblings Peanut and Butter were born as unwanted puppies on a poor Romanian farm. Their owners gave away Raye and some of the littermates to neighbors, while Peanut and Butter came directly to our shelter. Our team was later asked to take in Raye as well since her new family didn't want to keep her. You can find more information about how dogs end up at the shelter and answers to general questions in our animal welfare FAQ. Our puppy gang has shown themselves to be typical of their age, playful and curious. The little clumsy furballs are exploring their world, some a bit shy, others already confident. Their character will continue to develop over the next few weeks and months - at this point only the beginnings can be seen. If you would like more information about this fur ball, please contact our adoption team. Puppies should not have to grow up in shelters. That's why we urgently need a loving home or an experienced foster family for this little fur ball - somewhere where she can discover the world, build trust and simply be a puppy. Anyone adopting a puppy should be aware of how demanding everyday life with a young dog can be: As soon as house training is accomplished, "wild puberty" often sets in - full of energy, uncertainty and new challenges. The first years of life are an exciting journey that humans and dogs go through together - with ups and downs and plenty of learning moments. We wish for this fur ball people with patience, empathy and perseverance - and the understanding that shelter dogs often already have a certain history. How they react to their new life in Germany can never be fully predicted. But one thing is sure: Adopting instead of buying not only gives an animal a second chance but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by your side. Already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, first read through the adoption process. All dogs will be vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea treated and neutered (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs) before they leave. Dogs older than one year will also be tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please write a message to our adoption team.

About Raye

What life with Raye looks like

Raye is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Raye, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Raye?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Raye on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Raye if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Raye already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Raye isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Raye and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
