Rayo

Belgian Malinois · Male · Adult · 5 years

Rayo, a wonderful Malinois male, was born on 16.02.2021 and has a stately shoulder height of approximately 70 cm. Rayo is a very affectionate and attentive male. He has already been worked with and loves to retrieve. A good basis to further promote him, because Rayo learns very quickly and wants to be busy. As is known from Malis, Rayo also binds himself very quickly to his human and does not want to share him with another dog. Rayo always encounters other dogs friendly. Walks with other dogs are also possible. He just does not want direct contact and if too much energy comes up or he is barked at, then he reacts. Rayo is chipped, fully vaccinated (rabies and combination vaccination) and castrated. For the active and eager to learn male, we wish active and dog-experienced people or a corresponding family with children from 10 years, which also knows the handling of dogs. Experience with a Malinois or another working breed is certainly an advantage. Cats or other small animals should not live in the same home. His new people can look forward to an exciting, shared time. Especially a Malinois needs enough exercise, so enough time and space must be available for the new family member.

DE·Show original

About Rayo

What life with Rayo looks like

Rayo is an extra-large adult belgian malinois dog waiting at Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde in Hunde Hilfe.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rayo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rayo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rayo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rayo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rayo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rayo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Verein schutzbedürftige Hunde early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rayo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
