Ricky

Poodle · Male · Young · 3 years

Meet handsome little Ricky!! Beneath his sensitive side is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves nothing more than being close to his people and enjoying a fuss. After taking a little time to settle into kennel life, Ricky's playful personality soon emerged, complete with zoomies, toy games, and plenty of cheeky charm. He enjoys exploring, learning new things, and spending time with those he trusts. He can be quite vocal when seeing other dogs out and about but has shown to be a sweet, worried boy when greeting them, and can even get a little playful with the right match! Ricky is looking for patient owners who can continue building his confidence, particularly around other dogs, while helping him expand his social circle. He could live in any location, while a private garden would be beneficial, it is not essential for little Ricky. His history notes some separation anxiety so new owners will need to have low leaving hours and prepared to put in some training around this. With positive training, and lots of love, he will thrive in the right home. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about little Ricky, you can e-mail our rehoming team on to register your interest.

About Ricky

What life with Ricky looks like

Ricky is a small young adult poodle dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ricky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ricky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ricky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ricky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ricky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ricky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ricky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
