Adopt Grape

Poodle · Female · Adult · 8 years

21-05-26 Grape has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She is a scared girl who is quite overwhelmed to find herself here at the moment and clearly isn't used to much human interaction, so finds this quite worrying at the moment. Despite her fears she will let you gently stroke her and is trying so hard to be brave. She will be looking for a calm and quiet home where she can settle in at her own pace and would benefit from adopters with experience of ex-breeding dogs. She gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Grape has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training, and the other basics of home life. Everything will be new to her, so a calm and consistent routine will be important. Grape has arrived a little overweight, but with a good diet and gentle exercise, she should soon start to shed the excess. She has some hormonal alopecia, but this should start to grow back now she has been spayed. She has had 2 teeth extracted as well as a hernia repair and our vets have noted she has a small cyst, which was removed at the time of her spay. Grape is a very worried little girl at the moment, but with time, patience, and the support of another dog, she has the potential to slowly gain confidence and begin to show more of her true character. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Grape

What life with Grape looks like

Grape is a small adult poodle dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Grape, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Grape?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Grape on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Grape if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Grape already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Grape isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Grape and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
