animal shelter La Huella Verde Olvera: Update February 26, 2026: Rihanna was spayed a few weeks ago. She stayed in a foster family. There she was calm, kind, obedient and clean. Two weeks later she returned to the animal shelter. In the animal shelter she is active (although she was calm in her foster family). She likes to fetch, but she especially enjoys playing with other dogs. Her friends are all the dogs in the animal shelter, males or females, big or small. She is not afraid of people. She is very agile and can jump and even climb. She loves walking, but in nature she can pull on the leash due to her hunting instinct. In the city she walks better. With people she is very affectionate, cheerful and playful. She does not get along with cats. Regarding her health, she tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases at her last check-up, except for leishmania, where she tested positive, but with a very low value (1/160). Therefore, she leads a completely normal life and does not need any medication, only blood tests. Podencos are fairly resistant to leishmania and sometimes develop only antibodies without ever getting the disease. Input December 20, 2024: Rihanna was left on a road, someone saved her and then called the animal shelter. Unfortunately, the animal shelter was full, so she had to wait about 2 weeks in an enclosed field that belongs to someone in the neighborhood, where she naturally received food, until the animal shelter had a spot for her. She is doing well in the animal shelter, she is kind and happy there. Rihanna is a sweet, funny and loving dog and her energy level is average, she likes to play and run but not with too much energy. She is very playful with the ball, with both other dogs and with people... actually with everyone, she is a very cheerful dog. Rihanna is very good with people, she is very cheerful, kind, nice and has no fear. She loves people and also with other dogs she is very social and playful, she is good with both males and females and in all sizes. With cats she has not been tested yet. Hopefully this dear one will be noticed soon and her real dog life can finally begin.

Asiel La Huella Verde Olvera: Update 26 februari 2026: Rihanna is een paar weken geleden gesteriliseerd. Ze verbleef in een pleeggezin. Daar was ze rustig, lief, gehoorzaam en zindelijk. Twee weken later keerde ze terug naar het asiel. In het asiel is ze actief (hoewel ze in haar pleeggezin rustig was). Ze speelt graag apporteren, maar vindt het vooral leuk om met andere honden te spelen. Haar vrienden zijn alle honden in het asiel, reuen of teven, groot of klein. Ze is niet bang voor mensen. Ze is erg behendig en kan springen en zelfs klimmen. Ze houdt van wandelen, maar in de natuur kan ze aan de lijn trekken vanwege haar jachtinstinct. In de stad loopt ze beter. Met mensen is ze erg aanhankelijk, vrolijk en speels. Ze kan niet overweg met katten. Wat haar gezondheid betreft, testte ze bij haar laatste controle negatief op alle mediterrane ziekten, behalve op leishmania, waar ze positief op testte, maar met een zeer lage waarde (1/160). Daarom leidt ze een volledig normaal leven en heeft ze geen medicatie nodig, alleen bloedonderzoek. Podenco's zijn vrij resistent tegen leishmania en ontwikkelen soms alleen antilichamen zonder de ziekte ooit te krijgen. Helaas was het asiel vol, dus moest ze zo'n 2 weken wachten in een omheind veld dat eigendom is van iemand in de buurt, waar ze natuurlijk wel eten kreeg, totdat het asiel een plek voor haar had. Ze doet het goed in het asiel, ze is daar lief en gelukkig. Rihanna is een lieve, grappige en liefdevolle hond en haar energieniveau is gemiddeld, ze houdt van spelen en rennen maar niet van en te hoge energie. Ze is erg speels met de bal, met zowel andere honden als met mensen... eigenlijk met allemaal, ze is een erg vrolijke hond. Rihanna’s is heel goed in de omgang met mensen, ze is heel vrolijk, lief, aardig en heeft geen angst. Ze is dol op mensen en ook met andere honden is ze erg sociaal en speels, ze is goed met zowel reuen als teefjes en in alle maten. Met katten is ze nog niet getest. Hopelijk wordt deze lieverd snel opgemerkt en kan haar echte hondenleventje dan toch eindelijk beginnen.
