Adopt Rocket

Unknown

Rocket's mother Carley (whilst pregnant with him) and his father Farimere were part of a big welfare case that went to court. The owners were prosecuted but there was noone able to take in the two ponies and they were actually facing being put down. We were contacted by a frantic Good Samaritan who had been watching the whole situation and was desperate to find them a good home. Once we heard the severity of the situation, we immediately agreed to help. They arrived safely at Willows where they were both checked and treated by our vets. After a few weeks, Rocket was born safely and in good health at the sanctuary! The three are very bonded and they are always together grazing the fields.

About Rocket

What life with Rocket looks like

Rocket is a large adult horse waiting at Willows Animal Sanctuary in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocket, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocket?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Willows Animal Sanctuary handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocket on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocket if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Willows Animal Sanctuary will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocket already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most horses on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocket isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Willows Animal Sanctuary early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocket and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
