Rocky

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Rockys life did not start under the best circumstances. He comes from an unwanted litter and was given up at the shelter with his siblings. One by one, they found a home, and Rocky was allowed to hope he had arrived too. But the happiness was not lasting. His new family already had two small children and eventually felt overwhelmed with the additional responsibility for the young dog. So Rocky returned and is now waiting again for his people. Rocky actually brings everything with him that one would wish for a young companion. He is a friendly, affectionate and cheerful dog who discovers the world with the curiosity and joie de vivre of a puppy. He approaches people openly and friendly, and he also gets along very well with other dogs. His greatest passion is playing, no matter if with his dog buddies or together with his humans. Rocky is a clever little guy who likes to learn and enthusiastically takes on new tasks. With a little motivation, especially when a treat is involved, he quickly understands what is expected of him. This brings him the best conditions to learn everything a young dog needs for a happy life together with his future family. Rocky gets along very well with children, because he shares the joy of playing and discovering with them. However, with smaller animals, one should consider that he is still young and a bit boisterous. During his stay on a chicken farm, he showed great interest in the chickens and wanted to play with them. He does not mean it badly, but he cannot always correctly assess his strength and enthusiasm. Therefore, encounters with smaller animals should be well accompanied. Rocky is a young dog with a big heart, a lot of joie de vivre and a lot of potential. He is looking for people who give him security, love and the necessary time so that he can continue to grow and learn. Anyone looking for a playful and loyal companion who is enthusiastic about both adventures and cuddle hours will find a wonderful friend for life in Rocky.

DE·Show original

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
