Adopt Rodriguez

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

Rodriguez does not give up on finding his family. Three and a half years ago, Rodriguez was surrendered to the animal shelter along with his mother Ethra and his six siblings. Such a large family is already a challenge for the shelter staff. Everyone has found a wonderful home in the meantime, and Rodriguez was lucky enough to leave the animal shelter quickly. However, sometimes it's not permanent, and so the poor guy came back to Animal Protection a few months ago. Rodriguez is not coping well with the new situation. He has grown attached to his humans and thought that this affection was mutual. Unfortunately, his heart was bigger than that of his humans. Rodriguez misses home and feels lonely. Now he is once again looking for a permanent home. Rodriguez is actually a carefree, friendly boy who is open-minded and curious about exploring the world. He has many dog friends at the animal shelter, with whom he plays. He likes to take the lead and wants to be the boss. At the same time, he also loves cuddling with people. Rodriguez is looking for active people who can spend a lot of time with him and keep him occupied. He would certainly be a diligent student in a dog training class. In his new family, it would be nice if there was already a friendly only dog or better yet, an older female dog. Rodriguez would definitely appreciate that. He would have a playmate and wouldn't feel so lonely. Anyone who chooses Rodriguez will get a dog with a big heart and absolute loyalty towards his humans. It would never occur to him to abandon his primary caregiver. Who would like to show him this lifelong loyalty and help him out of his sadness? The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or foster home. This behavior is not immediately evident upon arrival. Some may initially react with fear to the new situation. Animals from the animal protection have all had a past, which was often unpleasant or even cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to settle in and build trust. Please be patient and give your pet the necessary time!

About Rodriguez

What life with Rodriguez looks like

Rodriguez is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rodriguez, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rodriguez?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rodriguez on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rodriguez if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rodriguez already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rodriguez isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rodriguez and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
