ROGER

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Become ROGER’s Virtual Parent ROGER (born approx. 11/2018, microchip no. 941000023052043) is a stunning Pointer with all the classic traits of his breed! Active. Social. Smart. Playful to the bone. He absolutely adores people. Every time he meets a volunteer, he lights up with pure excitement. He lives for human connection and melts under gentle petting. He is truly human-centered — a dog who belongs by someone’s side. When we found Roger, he was skin and bones. So thin and hungry he was just a few steps away from collapsing. During his first months with us, he was protective over his food — because he knew what starvation felt like. Now? He knows he will never starve again. And all he wants to do is play. Like every Pointer, he loves exploring with his nose and hunting lizards. Another hound abandoned — probably because he “didn’t do his job well enough. ” But Roger is not a tool. He is a soul. As the years go by, his body is wearing out and needs more care, nutritional supplements, and support, so his expenses are increasing more and more. Until he finds his forever home… Become his virtual parent. Support his journey. Give him the second chance he truly deserves. Roger is ready to give his whole heart. PHOTO ALBUM: CLICK HERE

About ROGER

What life with ROGER looks like

ROGER is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Naxos Animal Welfare Society (NAWS) in Naxos.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting ROGER, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ROGER?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Naxos Animal Welfare Society (NAWS) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ROGER on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ROGER if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Naxos Animal Welfare Society (NAWS) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is ROGER already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ROGER isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Naxos Animal Welfare Society (NAWS) early rather than rehoming privately; they know ROGER and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
