Rolf

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Rolf was born around 10/2014, is 25 cm tall, and weighs 9 kg. Rolf spent his life until now with an elderly lady in Romania. He was already familiar with life in a home and got to experience what it is like to have a place to call home. But when his owner was no longer able to care for him, he lost that familiar place. An animal welfare volunteer took him in at her private mini-shelter. Since then, Rolf has been living there together with many other homeless dogs. Yet Rolf, of all dogs, deserves to truly settle in once more. He is a sweet, friendly male who gets along well with other dogs. What he still lacks is a person who will give him their heart and show him that he belongs. For his next chapter in life, Rolf wishes for a loving home where he can calm down, find security, and enjoy the closeness of his people. A cozy bed, gentle hands stroking him, and people who accept him just as he is – that would be his greatest happiness. Who will give dear Rolf a home for life and make his world a little warmer again? We look forward to your inquiries! He has been examined by a veterinarian, dewormed, deflead, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, and tested for Mediterranean diseases including leishmaniasis, and has an EU pet passport and Traces registration. The adoption fee is €495.

DE·Show original

About Rolf

What life with Rolf looks like

Rolf is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierrettung International e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rolf, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rolf?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierrettung International e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rolf on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rolf if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierrettung International e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rolf already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rolf isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierrettung International e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rolf and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
