Romeo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Previous history: In December 2019, the existence of Yumi - whose entire body had been severely burned by abuse - became public. The place from which Yumi was likely to have escaped was the Siheung Dog Farm. Other animal protection organizations immediately began rescue operations, but on Christmas Day - a time that should be peaceful - the farm owner secretly moved all the dogs to another rural facility. WEACT managed to find out where the dogs had been taken, and after persuasion with the owner, they were successfully retrieved. In the end, more than 60 dogs were rescued and brought to safety. Most of the rescued dogs suffered from severe traumas and deep emotional wounds caused by humans. Helping them heal required immense patience, courage, and unwavering commitment. Now, almost seven years later, neither the dogs nor WEACT have ever given up and continue their journey to find loving families. Romeo is one of the dogs rescued from this place. Character description: With people: Romeo is very comfortable being near people and finds comfort in their presence. He is not the type to actively seek human contact, but he has made steady progress and copes well when people approach him slowly and gently. Due to what he has experienced, sudden contact can unsettle him, but he calmly accepts interactions when he feels comfortable. With other dogs: Romeo gets along well with other dogs. He is friendly to all dogs and has a calm, soothing presence. He enjoys being part of a group. Car sick: yes on longer trips Crate trained: yes House trained: prefers to do his business outside Walks: in progress Energy level: high Barks: no General personality: Overall, Romeo is a well-behaved, handsome boy. He is a quiet, gentle soul who offers comfort simply by being nearby. It is something special to watch him slowly open up to someone who meets him with patience. Yet, Romeo also loves to go into the yard, run a good lap, and enjoy his playful moments. Cat compatible? [ ] Yes [ ] No [ x ] Unknown Dog compatible? [ x ] Yes [ ] No [ ] Unknown Vaccinated? [ x ] Yes [ ] No Special features: Likes: People, treats, yard/garden Dislikes: Loud noises Health: Romeo is generally healthy! His teeth were not in the best condition at the time of his rescue. It is recommended not to give him hard objects to chew on to protect his teeth. Living situation: Can live in an apartment or house A garden is not necessary, but would be beneficial Can be a single dog or live with another dog (a calm and gentle dog would be ideal) Ideal family: Romeo is waiting for a family that can share a quiet, relaxed space and build trust slowly. He may need extra time to adjust to a new environment, so a family that adapts to his pace patiently and gives him calm love would be ideal. Is there a family that would like to spend quiet moments with him and watch as he slowly opens his heart to become a lifelong companion?. Gets along with other cats.

Katzenverträglich / compatible with cats?

About Romeo

What life with Romeo looks like

Romeo is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. in Ebstorf.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Romeo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Romeo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Romeo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Romeo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Romeo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Romeo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with German Hands meet Korean Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Romeo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
