Ronja

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Ronja arrived with her brother as an intake from the veterinary office, and while her brother has already found a wonderful home, Ronja is still full of energy, rushing into all new situations with open, friendly, and curious enthusiasm. The classic young pup eager to explore the world that lies before such a young life. At the moment, Ronja lives in a pack where she runs, plays, and romps extensively. She enjoys the company of others and has the talent to lead even the most macho dogs with a confident and intuitive touch, fitting in well with both same-sex and opposite-sex dogs. She greets all humans with great enthusiasm, always happy when it’s time for a walk. She should still learn some manners and patience, even if she never means any harm. Socialization should be encouraged in dog training classes and within dog groups to allow her to fully enjoy playtime and practice obedience in the presence of other dogs. On walks, she passes by other fellow animals calmly, though her leash manners still need some training. Ronja is clearly looking for a two-legged companion who is at least as lively, curious, spontaneous, and adventurous as she is. A confident and compatible fair dog, already in place, would perfect the happiness in the new home, but is not a condition. Similarly, a house and property are nice to have, but are not strictly necessary if they are available. In that case, a more intensive training start might be required. Ronja would be thrilled to be part of it… we are convinced that after some time, Ronja will be a hard-working bee in training with her human and in play with all her doggy friends. We also think she should practice being alone, as we believe she will learn quickly. Since she has never had her own home before, she needs people who can consistently and lovingly teach her about the world and living together. She can’t wait to demonstrate her quick learning ability. She would be happy in a family with children of the appropriate age and under adult supervision. Ronja is an ideal beginning dog for active people who will bring plenty of joy, fun, and a mountain of snuggling into the new home… and with the automatic calorie burning… so you would always have your personal fitness trainer. Who would like to give the energetic and loving Ronja a chance at her own home and work out the joint fitness program with her?

DE·Show original

About Ronja

What life with Ronja looks like

Ronja is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ronja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ronja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ronja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ronja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ronja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ronja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ronja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
