Roo

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

💗 ROO 💗 ANITA 📍 Location: Croatia, near Slatina – can be visited on-site at any time 🐾 General Information: • Name: Roo • Age: born on August 1, 2024 (approx. 2 years old) • Gender: female • Breed: mixed breed (likely with some hunting dog ancestry) 🐾 Health: • Overall condition: healthy and active • Vaccination status: fully vaccinated, EU pet passport and microchip available • Spayed • Weight: approx. 15 kg • Height: approx. 50 cm The descriptions of the dogs provided by the foster homes are based on current impressions from their time on site and do not guarantee the dog’s future behavior or development. 🐾 Character & Behavior: Roo is a stunningly beautiful, sensitive, and very cautious female dog who shows her absolute best side when interacting with other dogs. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, is perfectly socialized, and loves playing with them immensely. However, Roo is currently still very distrustful toward people. In direct contact, she is extremely cautious, very shy, and at the moment still greatly afraid of being touched. Yet, if you give her the necessary calm and space, she will show just how reliable and social a dog she truly is. Roo is looking for a stable environment where she can gradually learn that the world outside the shelter fences is safe. 🐾 Her Story: Roo’s story began sadly: She came to the shelter as a tiny puppy and had to spend the first two years of her life there. We assume that during this formative period behind bars, she saw and experienced many things that left her insecure and deeply affected. Now she has made it to her foster home and finally wants to leave the past behind. 🐾 Dream Home: • Experienced people sought who can give Roo plenty of time, patience, and deep understanding—ideally with experience in working with fearful dogs. • A home without pressure or expectations, giving her the chance to build trust at her own pace. • An experienced, confident first dog in the new household would be a wonderful support, providing her with the security she needs. 💌 How You Can Help: ❣️ Adopt ❣️ Offer Foster Care ❣️ Become a Sponsor ❣️ Share—so Roo can find her family 🐾❤️

About Roo

What life with Roo looks like

Roo is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hund sucht Hütte in Austria.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund sucht Hütte handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund sucht Hütte will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund sucht Hütte early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
