Adopt Rosi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Rosi - playful, cuddly, and cheerful → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: female → Born: October 2023 → Size / Weight: 53 cm / 25 kg → neutered: yes → vaccinated: yes → Chip: yes → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: unknown → Sponsorship possible: yes Description: Held Rosi sitting with her right front paw not raised and being careful with the leg while walking, her disability would have remained almost undetected. Quietschvergnügt she uses every opportunity for age-appropriate play, is cheerful, and brings people trust. For her protection, Rosi was taken in by Bosnian animal welfare workers because she was in danger from the inhabitants of a mountain village. The peaceful Rosi had sought the proximity of these people after she was likely abandoned in the vicinity of the village. The people were afraid of the unknown dog and threatened to do something to her. They could not have known that the peaceful Rosi simply only sought help, i.e., food and perhaps a protected corner, for herself. Not to mention how much Rosi loves to cuddle! An accident, the details of which are unknown, led to Rosi's handicap. We are urgently seeking a foster home in Germany for the cute sheep mix. Upon arrival, our shelter veterinarians will examine Rosi's leg and make a diagnosis. Then it will be decided how best to help Rosi; whether with an operation, therapies, or other care.

About Rosi

What life with Rosi looks like

Rosi is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rosi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
