Rosie (Jrt)

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 6 months

❤️🐾 Meet Rosie – the mummy behind our Sweet Treat babies! 🐾❤️ Recently, you’ve met our gorgeous litter of Sweet Treat puppies, but today it’s time to shine a little light on their wonderful mummy, Rosie. 🥹💕 Rosie was one of 60 dogs living in a breeding establishment. Her world was incredibly small, with very little hands-on contact with people and almost no socialisation beyond the company of other dogs. Understandably, Rosie is a nervous girl who finds humans a little scary. But something beautiful has happened during her time with us. While caring for her puppies in our puppy unit, she’s started to discover that affection and attention can be lovely things, too. ❤️ She’s been an absolutely wonderful mummy, giving everything she has to her babies. Now, as they begin their own journeys, it’s finally Rosie’s turn to be someone’s baby. Rosie is crate trained, and her crate is currently her safe space. It’s somewhere she can retreat to when the world feels a little overwhelming, so maintaining that familiarity and sense of security in her new home will be incredibly important. 🐕 Another dog is absolutely VITAL for Rosie. She thrives in the company of other dogs, drawing comfort and confidence from them in a way she simply cannot yet do with people. We will not consider a home without another dog for her. 🏡 What does Rosie need? ❤️ A very quiet, settled home. 🐾 A friendly resident dog to help her feel safe. 🌳 A super-secure outdoor space. 🤗 Someone with time, patience and understanding who will allow her to progress at her own pace. 👨‍👩‍👧 A home with children aged 16 and over, where her need for space and calm can be respected. Rosie isn’t going to be the dog who runs straight into your arms on day one. She may need time to trust you, and there will be moments when she needs to retreat to her safe space. But look at what she’s already achieved. A girl who once knew so little human kindness has begun to discover the joy of a gentle touch and a little affection. We need someone who understands that progress isn’t always measured in leaps and bounds. Sometimes it’s a wagging tail, choosing to sit a little closer, or simply feeling safe enough to sleep peacefully. Rosie has spent her life giving to others. Now we want someone to give something back to her. A safe home, a doggy friend, and the chance to discover that life can be about so much more than surviving. 💗 Could you be the patient, understanding person who helps Rosie blossom? 📩 Please get in touch with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI if you can offer this special girl the very special girl

About Rosie (Jrt)

What life with Rosie (Jrt) looks like

Rosie (Jrt) is a small puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Rosie (Jrt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rosie (Jrt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rosie (Jrt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rosie (Jrt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rosie (Jrt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rosie (Jrt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rosie (Jrt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
