Roulis

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

The sad Roulis wandered alone through the streets of Aegina. No one was looking out for him, no one could offer him a warm little basket and good food—and above all, no one showed any interest in him. A nobody’s dog who, without help, would probably have eventually met his sad end in a roadside ditch. But then history took a turn for the better. Animal welfare activists noticed Roulis, and since he loves people more than anything, it was easy to convince him to follow them. Roulis hasn’t regretted it one bit. He thoroughly enjoys the attention and cuddles he gets at the animal shelter. Now all that’s missing is his forever family. Roulis is a real sports enthusiast. He has an enormous urge to move around and makes it clear that he’d love to do lots of things with us. But even more important than all the action is that Roulis just wants to be close to people. If he could make himself tiny and fit into a handbag, he’d probably immediately settle down there between an umbrella and a wallet—just so he could accompany his humans everywhere. Roulis is a sweet guy. Despite how short the time has been, he already walks beautifully on the leash, always keeping his eyes fixed on his human—as if he wants to make sure he’s doing everything right. He’d certainly enjoy a few training sessions at a dog school, where he could really let off steam and learn from other canine companions, whom Roulis, by the way, absolutely adores. Roulis isn’t a sleepyhead—he craves attention and mental stimulation. That’s why we’re looking for sporty, active people who’ll do lots of things with Roulis and give him the love he truly deserves. He’d love to be the only pet in the family—this way, he won’t have to share all the attention. Who’s looking for a sporty training partner with a wet nose? Due to his breed, Roulis cannot be rehomed to Germany.

DE·Show original

About Roulis

What life with Roulis looks like

Roulis is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roulis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roulis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roulis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roulis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roulis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roulis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roulis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
