Roxy

Female · Young · 2 years

Meet Roxy! When Roxy first arrived with us, she was a little nervous and unsure, but it didn’t take long for her sweet and friendly personality to shine through. Once she gets to know you, she is a very affectionate little girl who simply loves being around people. Roxy absolutely adores cuddles and will happily jump straight onto your lap for some fuss and attention. She does have a tendency to jump up when she’s excited and wanting attention, so her new adopter will need to gently help her learn that four paws on the floor gets her the fuss she’s looking for. She is a lovely little walking companion and walks nicely on her lead. Roxy really enjoys getting out and about and would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of lovely walks and adventures. Roxy will need daily grooming to keep her coat looking and feeling its best, along with the occasional clip when needed. Roxy is a very sweet, friendly and affectionate little girl, who has so much love to give. She is now looking for someone who will give her the patience, affection and forever home she deserves. Roxy has socialised well with other dogs whilst in our care, so we feel following a successful meet and greet could live with another small dog (must be neutered). As Roxy came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Roxy

What life with Roxy looks like

Roxy is a small young adult dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roxy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roxy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roxy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roxy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roxy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roxy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roxy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
