Rubin

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Primary vaccination + Rabies. Rubin is looking for his forever home. The beautiful Rubin is about 1 year old, approximately 50 cm tall and weighs around 17 kg, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. Probably he is a Croatian Shepherd Dog mix. He was found on the street around New Year's. Scared, he ran around because of the fireworks. He didn't have a chip - but you can immediately tell that he must have had a home once. Rubin already knows basic commands like "sit" and gives a paw. Unfortunately, however, no one has looked for him. Rubin is a wonderful young dog: playful, affectionate, kind and loving, attentive and obedient. He gets along very well with other dogs and currently lives peacefully with a male. How he reacts to cats, we can test if necessary. Rubin is a great companion who longs for closeness and a fixed place with his people. All he needs now is a family that never abandons him again and shows him how beautiful a dog's life can be. About Rubin

What life with Rubin looks like

Rubin is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ankerhunde e.V. in Novi Grad.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇧🇦Adopting from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rubin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rubin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ankerhunde e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rubin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rubin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ankerhunde e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rubin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rubin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ankerhunde e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rubin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
