Adopt Rue

Mixed Breed Cat · Male

Hi everyone! My name is Rue, My personality: At first, I am a shy boy but it doesn’t take me long to come out of my shell to show you my soft nature. I am still settling in here at Rain so the humans are still working out what I am like but so far I am showing that I am very loving and that I love my head fusses. My ideal home: I would love a calm home where people are around often, I will need some understanding humans as it may take a little more time for me to settle in due to my shy nature. I do not like other cats and I am unsure if I would like any dog friends. I wouldn’t mind sharing my home with children who are aged 10+ who are more relaxed and calm around me. Access to outdoors: I would like access to the outdoors, but I may be just as happy being an indoor cat. Toileting: I am litter trained, I have access to both wood and grit Did you know: Cats actually spend 70% of their lives sleeping, which works out to around 13-16 hours a day. My adoption fee is £125

About Rue

What life with Rue looks like

Rue is a adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at Rain Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rain Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rain Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rain Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
