Saba

Female · Senior · 12 years

Saba is about 12 years old and has been in Promyku since February 2024. She arrived at the animal shelter after wandering around the Szadółek district of Gdańsk for a long time. At the time, she was in very poor physical and mental condition. Today, Saba is a completely different dog. She has regained her peace, trust in people, and joy in the little daily things. However, she still most needs stability, safety, and a person with whom she can simply rest. She is a large senior with a very gentle disposition. She enjoys going for walks, finds comfort in the calm rhythm of the day, and is increasingly opening up to human contact. Saba loves being petted, being close, and receiving calm attention from a caregiver. She is a type of dog that values a sense of security and the presence of a person nearby the most. She also handles grooming well. Grooming activities like brushing, calm maintenance, or contact during daily routines do not cause her any trouble. She is a female dog who enjoys a gentle touch and finds comfort in home-like conditions. Saba maintains cleanliness and functions freely in rooms. She is not afraid of stairs, tiles, or new surroundings, which can significantly help her settle into a home. It’s clear that despite her difficult past, she once had contact with daily life alongside a human. Relationships with other dogs can vary—so any introduction to another dog should be done calmly and individually. The most important thing for her is a sense of security and a stable relationship with a caregiver. Quick pick: approximately 12 years old, CIP number: 616093902622617, large female dog, vaccinated, calm and contactable, enjoys walks and human contact, maintains cleanliness, finds comfort in rooms, positively reacts to grooming. Saba is one of those canine seniors who no longer needs big attractions. She dreams of a peaceful home, a soft place to rest, and a person who will show her that after difficult experiences, she can still feel safe and loved.

Odzyskała spokój, zaufanie do ludzi i radość z codziennych małych rzeczy. Saba uwielbia głaskanie, bliskość i spokojną uwagę opiekuna. Saba zachowuje czystość i swobodnie funkcjonuje w pomieszczeniach. About Saba

What life with Saba looks like

Saba is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk in Gdansk.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Promyk Gdańsk early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
