Sam Dobermann

Doberman · Male · Young · 1 year

He travels well in the car and is fully house-trained, so any adventures will be so fun! He is a big fan of a zoom around off-lead, and will need to be kept physically and mentally enriched to thrive. Sam is a handsome lad, who is happy to be handled by anyone in any capacity. He doesn't mind visiting the vets, and is gentle with younger children - though can still be a bit bouncy at times! Sam would prefer a family to spend time with him at home while he settles in, and build his leaving hours nice and slowly. Sam does not like cats, and will chase them so would prefer to live in an area where cats will avoid him! He is such a fun, loving and goofy lad and we can't wait to see him thriving! Sam is a sweet 1-year old Dobermann looking for an active home to keep his busy brain occupied! Sam is able to live with another dog in the home, pending a successful meet in the centre - he is very playful! If not, he would benefit from having tolerant, social doggy friends out and about! Sam is a lovely boy, who is very friendly meeting new people but can be a bit bouncy so would be best suited to a family with older primary school aged children+. Sam is a young, energetic breed so would be looking for active owners that are willing to take him on fun, sniffy adventures out and about where he can run around and burn some energy! He loves to play with toys, and will chase a good ball! Sam would be brilliant for an active or outdoorsy family that want a fun companion that they can take everywhere. He can pull a bit on lead, but once he's had a good run around he's a lot better. He is also a foodie, intelligent boy so any training should be smooth sailing!

About Sam Dobermann

What life with Sam Dobermann looks like

Sam Dobermann is a large young adult doberman dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sam Dobermann, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sam Dobermann?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sam Dobermann on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sam Dobermann if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sam Dobermann already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sam Dobermann isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sam Dobermann and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
